david: thanks, ian. tiger, w. number 75. that's what it bottoms at out. 75, not a bad number at all. you played so beautifully for so long that you afforded yourself the opportunity to play the last four holes like a $3 violin. >> yeah, pretty much. it got a little ugly towards the end and i started losing my patience a little bit with the slow play and kind of lost by concentration a little bit there but got it back on 18. i knew i needed to grind it out and make my par and get this tournament. david: didn't play that well. four-shot win? that's all right. >> thank you. ian: thank you david and tiger. fantastic win, first of the season and in all the seasons that tiger has led a year off with that victory, he's gone on to great years. it might be another here in 2013. it's been a long weekend and a long monday here for all our crack crew at cbs. thanks to all our tech

hearing from ravens head coach, john harbaugh, and some of the players, as well. they all got on their charter flight this morning. you know, a trip that they have been, you know, trying for years to make. it's been 12 years in the making for the baltimore ravens to make it back to the super bowl. they had a nice little three- hour flight today. they got to enjoy the weekend with their family. and when they landed around 3:30 this afternoon at new orleans airport, they boarded the buses and had this huge contingent of motorcycle policemen escorting them here to the hilton river side, which is right down by harris for those of you that know the new orleans area. the guys got off the bus quickly, their headphones on, focused, ready to get here and settle in. fans were here cheering them on as well. now before their flight out of here, there was a huge celebration. a huge sendoff party for them in the inner harbor in the city
6:07 pm
of baltimore. it was wild and turned out thousands of fans. our scott broom was there and he says it was surely a classic baltimore sendoff. the ravens super bowl sendoff. a tide of thousands in purple and black flooding baltimore's inner harbor with a highly infectious strain of enthusiasm. it was a crowd that gathered in sleet and freezing rain starting at dawn. >> go ravens. >> what about those redskins 30 some miles down the road? >> is anybody here from down around washington anywhere? >> joe thompson is the assistant fire chief. check the helmet. >> do you think washington people give these ravens enough respect? >> absolutely not. i deal with the redskin fans all the time. i go to work.
6:08 pm
>> love the ravens. >> good. >> they love the ravens. >> the ravens arrived at about 12:20 and the place exploded. the emotional leader of the team, ray lewis, took the microphone. >> there is no ravens without you guys. we did this, we did this in 2000 and we're not going to new orleans for nothing else but to bring back another ring back to baltimore where it belongs. we love you, we love you. we are going to give you everything we got. >> one, two, three, baltimore. >> so, the ravens took part for new orleans with the hopes of an entire city. a region and half of that region includes washington behind them. in baltimore, scott broom,
6:09 pm
wusa9. >> all right, thank you scott. what a fun morning there in baltimore. of course, all the buildings are lit up. everybody has purple fever right now. it's only going to get crazier at the end of this week. now since the ravens arrived, the 49ers decided to come in yesterday. they got in last night about 7:00 and got to their team hotel and had a chance to relax and, you know, just get settled in. they did their press conferences yesterday and jim harbaugh and some of the players talked to the media and today it's going to be john and his players from the ravens. so we're sitting here, sitting tight waiting r john harbaugh to talk and watching all the media to file in. our week is beginning. it is super bowl week. it's going to be an exciting one and we'll have all the access for yoall week long. for now, we're live from new orleans. we'll see you back in a little bit. i'm kristen berset. derek and anita, back to you. >> kristen, the momentum just

building for the ravens. >> i was hoping scott broom was going to do ray lewis' dance, but he held himself back. >> he was into it. >> we'll have live reports throughout tonight's newscast and all week long right here at wusa9. don't forget, you can see the super bowl right here sunday, february 3, 6:30. >> on to other news, the state of former culpeper police officer now in the hands of a jury. daniel harmon-wright is charged with murdering an unarmed woman in a church parking lot. >> he shot patricia cook after she trapped his arm in the window of her car and dragged him. peggy fox is in the courtroom. any idea what the jury may come up with from all this? >> i tell you this, it all comes down to credibility. when daniel harmon-wright took the stand, he was believable. the jury has to decide whether
6:11 pm
they believe daniel harmon- wright saw patricia cook as a threat that he needed to take out or whether they think he made it all up just to cover up what really happened. >> it is a malicious and unlawful killing, which means it's murder. >> special prosecutor called daniel harmon-wright's claim of self-defense an unbelievable fairy tale. ten inconsistencies between what harmon-wright said on the witness stand friday and what he said in a video taped interview last year, just two hours after he killed patricia cook. >> how can you justify seven shots, several in the back of an unarmed woman in a car? that makes no sense to me. that's just excessive, brutal force. >> harmon wright told the jury that mrs. cook rolled up her window on his hand and started driving away. he had to shoot the window out to free himself. he said mrs. cook tried to run him over and he had to shoot her to stop a public threat because there were pedestrians
6:12 pm
around. none of that matched what eyewitnesses saw. >> our focus centered around the concept of credibility. the law of virginia speaks about credibility of witnesses and if you don't believe mr. harmon wright, then everything he says about self-defense goes out the window. >> but dan pointed to evidence that harmon-wright's hand had been injured. >> the fact she trapped his fingers in the window made him think that he was under attack. she was willing to kill him. >> the prosecutor said cook was just trying to get away from the defended because he was shooting at her. the assistant prosecutor said harmon-wright had anointed himself, judge, jury, and executioner when he shot patricia cook in the back. >> he is being dragged through the mud, put through the ringer for basically doing his job. >> now the jury is considering four counts against harmon- wright. the most serious is murder.
6:13 pm
it carries a sentence of twenty years to life. the jury has adjourned for the night. they'll be back at 9:00 tomorrow. i'm peggy fox live in culpeper, back to you. >> thank you, peggy. police investigating a deadly nightclub fire in brazil has taken the club's owner into questioning. initial reports blame the band for sparking the fire at the kiss nightclub in santa maria. the club was packed with college students attending a party. hundreds raced for the club's only working exit, but security guards initially blocked the door thinking people were trying to skip out on their bar tabs. police say bodies piled up at the entrance, making it difficult for party goers to get out and rescuers to get in. at least 230 people died, most of them from smoke inhalation. >> coming up, iran says it used to monkey to take a big step towards putting a human being into space. >> we'll show you

6:18 pm
stompers inside. these guys have been -- two hour long afternoon -- listen. >> it wouldn't be mardi gras without this. and of course there's nothing quite like new orleans in the mississippi river. we have the captain himself, captain don. i got to ask, you've been around for a while. you know these waters well. are you guys ready? is this city ready to handle super gras? >> we have done it before, we'll do it again. >> you have a million people
6:19 pm
coming here. -- >> every year we have marty gras with over a million people and we have super bowl every few years, so we are ready for it. as always. >> and the steam boat provides a nice sort of different perspective on the city. a much calmer perspective than most people are getting to see. >> most people don't realize it is here because of the mississippi river. so we're the only steam boat to operate in the harbor. we offer a view of the harbor. >> all right, well captain don rings don, thank you so much for chatting with us. i'm kristin fisher. one thing we know about that captain, he stays cool and calm under pressure. he does not get worked up. >> not bad if you're a captain, i guess. >> that's pretty cool. it will be 77 there tomorrow, but we can't dwell on that. >> oh really? >> it will be in the 60s
6:20 pm
wednesday. >> a lot of wild stuff coming. that's true. in fact, we had freezing rain this morning and here's video from loudoun county. some of the neighborhood streets were a sheet of ice. it coated the cars and of course delayed schools. now tonight we're in good shape. here's a live look outside from our michael and son weather cam. the temperatures are 42. they are above freezing and they'll stay above freezing tonight. they'll remain steady or go up overnight. winds now out of the south at 5. that's a good direction. it's a warm direction. so 37 in germantown. still 30s north and west of town. 39 bethesda. but notice low 40s in fairfax and springfield. and notice 47 in duple fridays and in the 50s. warmer air will move in as we go through the nighttime hours and tomorrow. a couple showers are possible. not looking for a lot of activity, but a couple showers pushing between frederick and
6:21 pm
leesburg. they'll cross over the river and 270 in the next half an hour. unfortunately, a wet commute between the left over moisture this morning and a couple showers into fairfax and loudoun. you will have a wet commute going home. so, no icy problems tonight. that's good. keep your umbrella handy. milder tomorrow. like april on wednesday, then we go back to winter. we'll be green tomorrow, milder with showers. we'll go yellow because of thunderstorms on wednesday. maybe some strong winds. but look at that, 66 on wednesday. low 44, high of 44 on thursday. back to reality. some morning showers are possible. and then kind of cool. a thunderstorm wednesday evening. we could have morning flurries or morning snow showers on friday. we could have evening flurries or snow showers on saturday. that's ground hog day. we'll see his shadow in the morning and in the 30s sunday and monday as well. >> roller coaster again. >> 60s to 30s. >> all right. up next on wusa9.
